Artist's Comments

This is what happens when three different concepts collide.

It actually started as a rather rough sketch. I was going to just stick the lyrics behind him, but then I got carried away. I like the results, even if my intended meaning changed. He was supposed to be relaxed and content. Shading turned it moody. I kinda like that better, though. More fitting for him.

Words are lyrics of "Ugly" by The Exies. A song that fits Crawford ohso well.

Rough sketch found here: [link]

Not bad at all, a good digi-art sketch, but I'd make the point that the font you're using (the name escapes me, but I have it on my own PC) neglects having apostrophes, hence the reason why you have words like IT S and DON T. My suggestion, and I might be totally off-center here if you like the effect, and if you still have the PSD on hand, is to grab a font with appropriately shaped apostrophes and substitute the spaces for the appropriate punctuation, since anybody who knows that font and looks is going to immediately notice. I'm picky like that. :P

I like the moodiness  and the spot of colour on the cigarette is nice and catching. I don't know the song you used, but I like the way you did the lyrics, its a nice change from the typical, straight on top of the image, style. Making it part of the picture is a great look :)

Eh. I know it's lacking in apostrophes. I was going just for the overall look of it, rather than readability. Hell, the figure is blocking out half the words. Plus the distortion makes those on the far left difficult to read. And since you noticed the lack of certain punctuation, which is really a very minor detail, I'm surprised you didn't see all of the missing spaces.

This is seriously impressive. I LOVE the mood of it, and the fact that the cigarette provides the only color in it just.. <3 Wow. I think my favorite part is his head, you positioned it perfectly. From the weary droop of the cigarette to the way his hair just obscures his eyes. Instafave. *_*!

I MOVED I MOVED go see ~RizuMcChan instead, it's way cooler over there.

His eyes are visable in the sketch, but it just looked much cooler to obliterate them in shadow. And I'm addicted to having the burning cherry and smoke be the only touches of color (it's hard to tell but the smoke has a faint bluish tint to it).

I've done the slap the lyrics on top sort of thing, but I never really liked the look of it. You should check out the song, though. It's a great song, especially if you want a random dose of general angst with out it being on level with...you know...Linkin Park.

That looks just plain friggin' awesome. I'm surprised there's not more comments and such on this. Amazing job with the shading, and that cigarette spark stands out just enough. Quite nice, great job!!
